Adam St. George, also known as Atom, is a painter from the Inland Empire. He playfully explores abstract and surrealist expressions through bold colors, vibrant energy, and a sense of fun. A common theme in his work is embracing the unknown; we love watching Atom start his paintings by throwing a handful of paint onto a canvas and creating a face from the splatters.
Atom turned to art after the death of his friend on his 21st birthday while serving in Iraq, along with his diagnosis of multiple sclerosis at 24. After leaving his job as an ultrasonic inspector, he began studying art at Otis College of Art and Design. For over a decade, painting has served as a coping mechanism for him, balancing chaos with humor to bring joy to his audience. Initially focused on the fractal complexities of his illness, his work has evolved into expressive, dreamlike imagery that incorporates fantastical plants, animals, and vibrant patterns to explore and celebrate his consciousness.
