Art in Public Places
Connecting Riverside County artists with public spaces, civic buildings, exhibitions, residencies, and community-centered creative placemaking.
About the Program
Taking art into public life
Artscape is a collaboration between Riverside County and Riverside Arts Council. The exhibition series showcases Riverside County artists and illustrates how art can be woven into daily life through public and civic spaces.
Through Artscape, Art in Public Places, and community-centered public art initiatives, RAC helps make artwork more accessible while creating visibility and opportunity for regional artists.
Public Art
Art belongs where people live, work, gather, and pass through.
Public art and civic exhibitions help people encounter creativity in everyday places while strengthening local identity, artist visibility, and community pride.
Artscape Exhibitions
Public exhibition spaces
Riverside County Administrative Center
Artscape exhibitions at the Riverside County Administrative Center bring regional artwork into public civic spaces including the main lobby, executive offices, and Board of Supervisors lobby.
Riverside County Registrar of Voters
The Riverside County Registrar of Voters is an extension of the Artscape / Art in Public Places program, creating another public-facing space for regional artists and rotating exhibitions.
Rotating Exhibitions
Artscape exhibitions rotate approximately every six months, creating ongoing opportunities for artists to share work with new audiences.
Rolling Applications
RAC accepts Artscape applications on a rolling basis and rotates selected artists and artwork approximately every six months.

Submit work for public exhibition
Artscape provides artists with opportunities to exhibit work in public spaces and connect with audiences beyond traditional gallery settings. Current RAC Artscape information includes submission cycles for the County Administrative Center and Riverside County Registrar of Voters.
Artists should check the current Artscape page for active deadlines, guidelines, submission forms, and eligibility requirements before applying.
Art in Public Places
Making art accessible to all
RAC’s public art work supports the idea that art should be visible beyond museums and galleries. By placing artwork in civic spaces, public buildings, and community environments, RAC helps more people encounter art in their daily lives.
Public art initiatives can include exhibitions, murals, installations, community-based artwork, artist residencies, and creative placemaking projects.
Artist in Residency
Community-engaged artists and public-facing work
The Artist in Residency program supports artists working directly with residents and neighborhoods to develop meaningful public-facing artwork and creative engagement. Current residency work includes public art, murals, community engagement, and technical support for participating artists.
